Update Details:

The update adds compatibility for Type M and H xD-Picture cards.
Important:
-
If the firmware upgrade procedure fails, the camera may no longer operate correctly.

Always use the AC adapter when upgrading the firmware.

Never turn the camera off or attempt to use any of the camera controls while the firmware is being overwritten.

The firmware upgrade process takes approximately 2 minutes.

Once upgraded, the previous firmware cannot be restored.
-
A Type M or Type H xD-Picture card cannot be used for the update procedure.
Download Instructions
Click HERE to download the firmware file. When prompted to save the file, please save the file to your desktop.
*this file is compressed and must be decompressed using a software application such as the free 7-ZIP (for Microsoft Windows users) or the free STUFFIT EXPANDER (for Apple Macintosh users).
Once the download is complete, double-click the file labeled A330FIRMWARE177.zip. This will decompress the file labeled FPUPDATE.DAT:
Apple Macintosh users:
After double-clicking the file labeled A330FIRMWARE177.zip, another file labeled FPUPDATE.DAT will appear on the desktop.
Microsoft Windows users:
After double-clicking the file labeled A330FIRMWARE177.zip, a new windows will appear. In the new window titled 7-Zip File Manager, press the Extract button. This will place a file named FPUPDATE.DAT on your desktop.
Install Instructions
- Insert a formatted xD-Picture card into your camera. Do not use a Type M or Type H xD-Picture Card to perform the update.
- Connect the AC adapter AC-3V (sold separately) to your camera.
- Connect your camera to the computer using the supplied USB cable (refer to page 66 of the users manual).
- Transfer the firmware file FPUPDATE.DAT from the desktop to the camera:
Microsoft Windows Users:
Open the My Computer window. The camera will appear as a Removable Disc or FinePix icon.
Double click the Removable Disc or FinePix icon to open the disc window.
Drag & Drop the firmware file FPUPDATE.DAT into the disc window.
Apple Macintosh Users:
Open the Finder window. The camera will appear as an Untitled drive icon.
Click on the Untitled drive icon in the Finder window.
Drag & Drop the firmware file FPUPDATE.DAT from the desktop into the Untitled drive window. - Turn your camera off and disconnect the USB cable.
